Kent, also known as the “Garden of England,” is a county in southeastern England. Kent offers something for everyone, whether you’re interested in beautiful countryside, exploring the coast, or enjoying delicious food and drink.

Leeds Castle

Leeds Castle is one of the most beautiful castles in the world, and one of the most incredible sites in Kent. The historic structure includes a moat, and is surrounded by 500 acres of parks and gardens. The interior of the castle is just as impressive as the outside. The rooms were decorated by some of the top European designers throughout the 1920s and 30s for the castle’s last private owner, Lady Baillie.

Every ticket is valid for an entire year, so if you live nearby you’ll no doubt be back to visit often!

Canterbury Cathedral

The Canterbury Cathedral is the most visited attraction in Kent. You’ll understand why as soon as you see it! The cathedral features a rich history and beautiful, dramatic architecture. The cathedral also houses a crypt from the 11th century, a 12th century Gothic Quire, and a 14th century Perpendicular Nave. You can’t miss the breath-taking stained glass windows that illustrate Bible stories and moments from history.

While you’re at the Canterbury Cathedral, consider also visiting the ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church. Together they make up one of Britain’s World Heritage Sites.

Howletts Wild Animal Park

For those less interested in history, Howletts Wild Animal Park is another great attraction! The park is a breeding sanctuary for some of the rarest animals in the world. The park offers the world’s largest collection of critically endangered western lowland gorillas, and the largest herd of African elephants in the UK.

Cliffs of Dover

The White Cliffs of Dover are one of England’s most famous attractions. It doesn’t matter the season- the cliffs will always offer breathtaking views of both the bustling English channel and the French coastline. The cliffs don’t just offer good views, but also allow visitors to see some of the plants and animals that are unique to only that area.

Food and Drink

Kent is also famous for its food and drink production. In more recent years, the area has become known for its wine. It doesn’t matter if you’re interested in Michelin-starred restaurants, fresh seafood, classically-brewed beer, or some of the best wine in the world. Kent has it all! If creating your own food is more your style, Kent also has countless local markets where farmers bring their fresh goods.

Kent boasts breathtaking scenery, countless attractions, and fantastic food and drink. Whether it be visiting historic sites such as Leeds Castle, watching rare animals at Howletts Wild Animal Park, or enjoying local food, Kent is sure to provide you with a variety of wonderful memories!
